Bikaner.(Abhay India News). Bikaner district has been consistently lagging behind in the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme in last two years due to the poor & conscienceless attitude of the officers of rural development and Panchayat Department. In past two years under the scheme, 16 thousand 948 houses were to be constructed in the villages of the district, but till date it has reached merely 11,838. There are almost three months left to complete the goal of accomplishing the housing scheme, but it does not seem that the slothful Officers of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department would be able to construct 5110 houses under the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme in leftover time.

This is to inform that the Housing Scheme in the district was suppose to be completed by October 2018, but despite the Election year Officers from Panchayat Samiti to Gram Panchayat level were shamelessly careless. Despite repeated instructions of the top officials, the district level officers did not increase the pace of work. As a result, the entire 16948 houses have not yet been completed. Now Central Government’s pressure on the department have become a Mayhem for the officials.

In this regard Principal Secretary Rajeshwar Singh has written a letter to the Collector of concerned districts to complete all approved and progressive housing schemes by 31st January. There is a challenge to build 5,110 houses in Bikaner before January 31. It is to inform that the Ministry of Rural Development had conducted surveys to include eligible families in addition to the permanent priority list under the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme. Under this homeless families & families with disadvantaged people in all the districts were marked & included  in the housing scheme. The complete information of these families was suppose to be uploaded on the Housing Plus app last year by 31st November, but the officers and personnels did not show their conscientiousness in this work and the site of the scheme was closed after the scheduled date. Later instructions were given for compiling offline information, but due to sluggish departmental activity the work of compiling offline information did not go further. Now after the change of government in the state, the dream of providing accommodation to 5110 families of Bikaner will accomplish anytime or not its hard to say…!

This is the Prime Minister’s Accommodation Scheme

The name of Indira Awas Yojana, operated by the Central Government, was changed to Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme on November 20, 2016. Under the scheme beneficiary receives a grant of Rs.1,20,000/- per house. The approved amount is given merely through Bank Account as per 3 instalment schedule 25-50-25. Amount of 12000/- rupees is given for the construction of toilets under Swach Bharat Mission. In this way the eligible families gets an amount of 1.48 lakh rupees.
